The team of knowledgeable guides will take you on a journey through the vibrant history of the theatre, revealing backstage secrets and hidden gems that are sure to leave you in awe. You’ll discover the stories behind some of the most iconic shows and performances that have graced the stage at QPAC over the years. As you make you way through the QPAC building, you will be treated to views of the magnificent architecture and design that makes this venue a true masterpiece. With it’s heritage-listed status, you will be amazed at the rich history and cultural significance that is woven into every corner of this iconic building. Accessibility: This is a walking tour that last 90 minutes. Some stairs may make participation difficult for some members. After the tour, around 12pm, U3A members may like to have lunch around the Southbank area before heading back to Caboolture by train. MALENY BOTANICAL GARDENS AND BIRD WORLD 26 MARCH 2025 Maleny Botanic Gardens is a unique privately owned garden, consisting of nearly 23 acres of gardens, set on a 110 acre property, overlooking a backdrop of the iconic Glass House Mountains and surrounded by magnificent rainforest. Layered and terraced gardens interspersed with a multitude of stunning waterfalls and lakes only add to the majestic nature of this unique attraction that sits high on the escarpment. Bird World has five walk-through aviaries and are home to over 600 native and exotic birds from around the world. Visitors can be part of a walk-through, interactive guided tour, where they will get up close and personal with the birds. Farm Friends have miniature animals that are truly cute and special! They have Mediterranean miniature micro donkeys, miniature goats, baby-doll sheep, miniature pigs and lots of chickens and roosters! Try brushing these beautiful creatures, or you could feed them with specially prepared food you can purchase at the gift shop. Accessibility: The garden’s pathways can have a gradient, so buggies are provided for those who may find these difficult to negotiate. Buggies can be hired for an hour at the cost of $45 for 4 people or $60 for 6. Come enjoy the day, knowing that the gradient of the gardens can be experienced in comfort with your friends from a buggy. (Own expense) A cafe is available for coffee or a light snack. We will stay at the Gardens until 12:30pm and then make our way by bus to the Maleny Hotel for lunch where a dining area will be set up. MT COOT-THA BOTANICAL GARDENS AND LOOKOUT WEDNESDAY 14 MAY 2025 Come and join Caboolture U3A for a day out at the Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens and the Summit Lookout at the top of Mt Coot-tha. The Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mount Coot-tha are Queensland’s premier subtropical botanic gardens. Founded in 1970 and officially opened in 1976, the 56 hectare gardens are open daily, and entry is free. The gardens have the most extensive collection of Australian native rainforest trees in the world and natural wildlife. The gardens feature a Japanese Garden, Tropical Dome, the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium and Queensland’s Herbarium where you can do a self-guided tour. Drop into the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Centre for information on self-guided walking trails. Visitors can enjoy free guided tours Monday to Saturday (public holidays excluded). We will leave the gardens for the summit about 12:30pm Members can choose to have an earlier lunch at the Botanical Garden Cafe or a later light one at the Summit Cafe on the top of Mt Coot-tha. We will spend up to 1 hour at the summit before once again boarding the coach for our return to Morayfield. Date: Wednesday 14 May 2025 .
